HYDERABAD, Nov 10: Hyderabad, Sanghar, Larkana, Sukkur, Shikarpur and other parts of the interior of Sindh received rain on Sunday.

The rain broke the dry spell and led weather to become chilly.

Rain damaged harvested paddy and cotton crops lying at fields and was followed by power breakdown in Larkana and Jacobabad districts.

SANGHAR: Light rain all over the district on Saturday night and Sunday brought temperature down and following it, weather became quite pleasant.

The rain began at Saturday midnight and was continuing till the filing of this report.

The rain is likely to benefit the newly-sown wheat crop.

Light rain was reported from Khipro, Sinjhoro, Jam Nawaz Ali, Shahdadpur and Tando Adam.

Naushahro Feroze: Tharushah, Kandiaro, Lakha Road and surrounding areas received rain on Sunday.

LARKANA: Continuous drizzle in and around Larkana on Sunday brought down the temperature but also led to a prolonged power breakdown.

The rain damaged harvested paddy crop lying at land but agriculturists said it would benefit coming wheat crop.

As the rain started late Saturday night, half of the Larkana city plunged into darkness due to the power failure. The power supply could not be restored in many parts of the city till Sunday.

The other parts of the district were also affected by sporadic power failure.

Ratodero remained without electricity for the whole day.

SHIKARPUR: Shikarpur received first rain of the winter on Saturday night.

Due to the rain, the civic life was badly affected. The rain also affected paddy crop.

Clouds were still hovering over the district.

SUKKUR: Sukkur, Kandhkot, Kashmor and Ghotki received light rain for the second consecutive day on Sunday, which made weather pleasant.

Some surrounding areas received heavy downpour with short intervals.

Weather experts said more rain was expected in the upper Sindh in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Kandhkot, Kashmor and Thul plunged into darkness due to the power breakdown.

MIRPURKHAS: Mirpurkhas and its outskirts received rainfall on Sunday.

The low-lying areas were inundated. The rainwater could be seen gushing on the main roads and streets of the town as it continued raining intermittently throughout the day.

The rain also brought a change in the weather, making it cold.

The power supply to the area was also disrupted. The breakdown continued till 9pm.

Due to overloading short circuit was caused in two power transformers in Khisakpura in the morning.

NAWABSHAH: Nawabshah district including Nawabshah city, Daur, Bandhi, Jam Saheb, Manharo, Qazi Ahmed, and Sakrand received light rainfall on Sunday.

The people of Nawabshah came out of their houses to enjoy the rain.
