RAWALPINDI, Sept 11: As many as 4,000 candidates appeared in the entry test for the admission in the engineering institutions of the Punjab for undergraduate programmes-2011 held here on Sunday amid tight security.
The test was conducted simultaneously in big cities of the country under the supervision of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore.
In Rawalpindi, the examination centre was established at Siddeeq Public School, 6th Road.
The City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) made special security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion.
Assistant Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa told Dawn that the CDGR would also make special security arrangements during entry test for admission in medical and dental colleges of the Punjab scheduled on September 13 (Tuesday).
TAXILA: As many as 3,800 candidates appeared in the combined entry test for admission to engineering institutions of the Punjab held at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila on Sunday.
Keeping in view the leak of papers for the entry test held on July 24, strict and foolproof security arrangements were made by the university administration.
In order to ensure transparency, a seven-member team led by Dr Zafar Noon from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore monitored the whole process.
Talking to the newsmen, Vice Chancellor UET, Taxila Dr Muhammad Abbas Chaudhry said that 88 centers were established in the university campus and the test was conducted in a very peaceful and congenial environment as no complaint about any untoward incident was received by the university administration.—A Reporter
