LAHORE, Sept 10: Lahore Development Authority Director-General Abdul Jabbar Shaheen on Saturday ordered a probe into recovery of some missing plot files from an unauthorised LDA official.

Officials told Dawn that the DG took the action after two directors in a joint move recovered seven files of precious plots worth nearly Rs40 million from an official Shukarullah, staff officer (land development department), on Friday evening.

“Some inside sources told me that Shukarullah had held some missing plot files of Mustafa Town in his custody despite the fact that he was not authorised to keep the same in his locker unnecessarily,” Director (One-Window Operation) Mansoor Butt said.

He said after receiving information he informed Director (Land Development-III) Shafique Ahmad. Butt said he along with Shafique checked Shukarullah's locker and found the missing files.

Director Shafique Ahmad said as soon as they started searching the files, Shukarullah went outside of his room on the pretext of official work but didn't return. “But he has phoned me to join the inquiry from Sept 12 (Monday) when I contacted him about recovery of files from his office.” Ahmad said he also informed the LDA DG about the incident who had ordered him to initiate action by conducting a thorough probe.
