RAWALPINDI, Sept 10: The anti-corruption court on Saturday awarded five-year imprisonment to a former medical superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital and four other persons in the fake doctors’ recruitment case.

According to the verdict announced by Special Judge Malik Nazeer Ahmed, the former hospital MS Dr Khalid Iqbal Malik; fake doctors Allauddin, Sallahuddin, Naseeruddin, and ex-head clerk Malik Irfan would undergo five years in jail.

The hospital’s accounts officer Asif Ayub was given four-year term while fake doctor Rifat Shaheen will undergo three-year imprisonment.

However, the judge ordered release of Director Finance Mohammad Rasheed, DMS Dr Mohammad Bilal, Dr Romana Masood, Dr Maryam Waqar and Dr Mubeen Malik due to lack of evidences.

It may be recalled that media had unearthed the appointments of four fake doctors at the hospital in October 2009.

The MS along with his deputy Bilal Arshad, finance director allied hospitals Mohammad Rasheed, DHQ accountant Asif Ayub, head clerk Irfan Malik was arrested for appointing Allauddin, Naseeruddin, Salahuddin and nurse Riffat Shaheen as doctors on fake MBBS degrees.
