FAISALABAD, Nov 8: Two masked men thrashed district and assistant audit officers and deprived them of cash from a room of hostels of the district health department centre in the Civil Lines area.
They entered the room No 2 and locked the room from inside where DAO Salim was sitting with his nephew Farooq and AAO Zafar Iqbal. They reportedly beat them up when they put up resistance. The bandits took Rs5,000 from DAO Salim, Rs4,100 from Farooq and Rs400 from Zafar at gunpoint and fled from scene threatening them with dire consequences.
Salim informed the Rescue 15 and a police team reached the spot about 15 minutes after the incident despite the fact that the police centre is situated some meters away from the place of incident.
Insiders told this scribe that the incident in the hostels of district health development officer was in fact a signal to DAO Salim and his team members not to finalize their audit report against “corrupt” police officers.
RECOVERY: Revenue officers recovered Rs137.13 million arrears during the first quarter of the current financial year in Faisalabad district. This was stated at a meeting of revenue officers held here on Friday.
The assistant district officer (revenue) told the meeting that Rs37,120,000 water rate arrears, Rs1,215,000 cooperatives bank dues, Rs788,000 water management department, Rs843,000 Baitul Maal, Rs3,985,000 mutation fee and Rs2,714,000 stamp duty have so far been recovered.
The district officer directed them to accelerate the pace of recovery. He also sought the cooperation of departments concerned in this regard.
He directed the DDOs to review the performance of their staff on weekly basis and ensure cent per cent recovery.
