Students hold demo for speed-breaker

Published November 9, 2002

LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 8: More than eight hundred students here on Thursday blocked the Indus Highway in front of Government Degree College to press the local administration for establishing a speed-breaker in front of the college gate.

Sources told Dawn that a speed-breaker was set up in front of Government Degree College by the local administration to avoid accidents during the rush hours and facilitate the students to get public transport from the college gate.

But the speed-breaker was removed by the district government authorities during a scheduled visit of Governor NWFP Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah to Lakki Marwat. Since that visit, the local authorities did not establish another speed-breaker which caused several accidents.
