HYDERABAD, Sept 7: Fourteen people died in rain-related incidents on Wednesday in parts of Sindh.

In Hyderabad, Ms Nehan Kolhi died in katchi abadi near Husri and Suleman and Siddique were buried alive in the roof collapse in Baldia colony.

President Asif Ali Zardari took an aerial view of the affected areas in Nawabshah, including Qazi Ahmed, Sakrand, Daur and others of areas on Wednesday.

Addressing a meeting, he directed all MNAs, MPAs and the office-bearers and workers of the Pakistan People's Party to help people.

Two people were killed and a number of others injured in rain-related incidents in the district on Wednesday.

Amna, 10, fell and died in moving water in the village of Kha near Qazi Ahmed.

Citizens of Nawabshah protested shortage of relief goods and condemned the administration for not draining the rainwater.

Many protesters were injured when police resorted to baton-charge to disperse them.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Two children died of gastroenteritis while many others were admitted in the civil hospital on Wednesday.

The dead were identified as Rashid Ali, 4, of the village of Chhato Solangi and Sanaullah, 3.

In the village of Gaho Rahu near Mehrabpur, Ghulam Abbas Rahu died due to electrocution.

A woman, Khanzadi Dahri, of Chato Dahri and a child were killed and another child wounded when the roof of their houses collapsed.

Safooran Lakho, 2, was killed and her brother Naseem Lakho was wounded when wall of their house collapsed in the village of Ghulam Hyder Lakho.

Naushahro Feroze DCO Nazar Mohammad Bozdar suspended taluka Municipal Administrator Sadiq Rajpar for not taking immediate action for draining out rain water standing in Mehrabpur town.

Cotton and other crops standing on 30,000 acres were damaged.

Around 10,000 wheat bags lying outside Moro food storehouse were inundated.

BADIN: Hundreds of people in a number of villages were awaiting rescue after several breaches and overtopping on the eastern side of the LBOD.

The breaches occurred at Khadi Bero, Widhri Chak and near zero point of the LBOD, inundating hundreds of small and big villages.

MIRPURKHAS: Torrential rains caused large-scale devastations in the district which has so far braved 325mm rains in the past eight days.

Thousands of people were shifted to government schools buildings following accumulation of three to five feet rainwater in their areas.

Thousands of thatched houses were collapsed while many others damaged and crops of cotton and vegetables standing on thousands of acres were destroyed.

Continuous downpour submerged low-lying areas under four to five feet water. The railway underpass was submerged under 15 feet water, closing way from the city to Satellite town.

Milk and vegetables sellers are getting benefit of the situation by increasing the prices of these commodities.

Situation in the four talukas of the district Mirpurkhas, Jhuddo, Digri and Kot Ghulam Mohammad was out of control of the district administration which sought more help from Army and Naval troops.

Four persons were injured in the village of Malik Nizamuddin when the wall of a house caved in while a three-year-old child was killed in another roof collapse in Jhuddo taluka.

DCO Mirpurkhas Ghulam Hussain Memon said that over 2,000 stranded villagers had been shifted to safer places by Navy and Army troops from the rural areas.

UMERKOT: Intermittent rains which continued for the past 10 days turned into heavy rains on Wednesday.

All the four talukas went under deep water, forcing people to migrate to safer places. Level of water in a number of canal is increasing beyond control and roads have developed deep ditches.

People leaving their goods and livestock have started evacuating the affected villages and towns.

Water of Sim nullah washed way Naukot bridge and entered Jhuddo town, disconnecting communication between Jhuddo, Naukot and other Thar areas..

MITHI: Heavy rains in the past two days have destroyed numerous katcha houses, damaged sown crops in various areas, killed many cattle heads, washed away the main and link pakka roads, suspended vehicular traffic and paralysed the drainage system in towns and villages of Thar.

In Sanghar, a man died because of roof coolapse.

Heavy rains were continuing in Sanghar, Khipro, Shahdadpur, Tando Adam, Shadpur Chakar.
