NEW YORK, Nov 8: First lady Sehba Musharraf arrived here on Friday to lead a delegation to the Microcredit Summit+5 being held Nov 10 to 13.

She will speak at the opening ceremony of the moot, which will be presided over by Mexico’s President Vicente Fox.

Mrs Musharraf is expected to meet a number of luminaries attending the summit, including Marta Sahagun Jimenez, the first lady of Mexico; Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of the United States and Normand Lauzon, executive director of the United Nations Capital Development Fund.

The organizers invited Mrs Musharraf to participate in the summit in her capacity as the chairperson of the regional steering committee on the advancement of rural and island women for Asia Pacific. First ladies of 17 countries in the region are members of the RSC-AP.

She is accompanied by Environment, Local Government and Rural Development Minister Shahida Jameel and a number of officials.
