PESHAWAR, Nov 8: The NWFP government said on Friday that local bodies elections in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas would be held soon after Ramazan.

A spokesman said the polls were postponed due to general elections and arrival of Ramazan.

He said the procedure for Senate elections in Fata had been formulated in consultations with the elected National Assembly members and the matter  of Fata’s representation in the NWFP Assembly had been taken up with the federal government.  

He said recommendations of provincial assembly members had also been taken on Fata’s representation in the NWFP Assembly. The government fulfilled its constitutional obligations and elite of Fata were also consulted on the issue, he said.  

The spokesman said that reforms introduced in Fata would be honoured.
