ISLAMABAD, Nov 7: PML-Q vice-president and MNA-elect Mian Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri has said a lack of consensus about the formation of government could damage the growing confidence in Pakistan’s economy and weaken the country’s position in the regional and international security environment.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Mian Kasuri said, if the national assembly met without an agreement on the formation of an elected government, the politicians would earn nothing but low esteem. A fall in the Karachi Stock Exchange index indicated how investors view the ongoing efforts for formation of a government in the centre, he added.

The PML-Q leader said, despite partial withdrawal of its forces from the border, India was not ready to end its moves to coerce Pakistan. Therefore, Pakistan’s political leadership should realize that the country was undergoing a transition from a military regime to an elected government.

Meanwhile, Mian Kasuri called on the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) secretary-general, Maulana Fazalur Rehman, and discussed the on going efforts to form the government.
