LAHORE, Aug 22: The Lahore High Court on Monday annulled a Punjab Public Service Commission advertisement wherein upper age limit concession was not given to private applicants for various posts.

The petitioners stated that the commission gave concession in various terms, including upper age limit, for different posts and vacancies sought to be filled by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD).

They pointed out that the PPSC had given upper age limit concession to civil servants only and not to private applicants. They said the act of the respondent was discriminatory and in violation of the Constitution.

On court order, S&GAD secretary filed reply and stated that this year he did not exercise his discretionary powers to relax the age limit.

After hearing all the parties at length, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah ordered cancellation of the advertisement and directed the PPSC and S&GAD secretary to advertise the posts afresh after taking all stakeholders on board and re-determine upper age limit for the applicants.
