DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Nov 15: The Peshawar High Court, Dera bench, has sought comments from the NWFP government, Home Secretary Javed Iqbal, district Nazim Maj Latifullah Khan Alizai and the superintendent of police of Dera Ismail Khan in the detention case of Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman.

The detention of JUI chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has been challenged in the court by his younger brother, Obaid-ur-Rehman.

The plaintiff has prayed to the court to order withdrawal of Maulana’s house-arrest orders.

The JUI chief was put under house arrest on the order of the district Nazim on Oct 8 for three months.

On Oct 14, the Nazim issued another order to put him under house arrest for three months. Through an order on Nov 6, issued by NWFP Home Secretary Javed Iqbal, the JUI chief was shifted to the Chashma Rest House for a period of one month.

These orders were challenged in the high court with an observation that the orders were unconstitutional and illegal.

The court ordered all the four parties to make their comments before it within one week.
