KARACHI, Nov 6: The five-day campaign launched by the Excise and Taxation Department for the recovery of Motor Vehicle Tax and checking of vehicles without papers concluded on Wednesday.

The drive produced good results with a recovery of Rs10.386 million as MVT.

In the five days, the Excise staff challaned 1554 vehicles and impounded 128 vehicles which were being used without documents.

Thirteen vehicles with tampered engine and chassis numbers were also seized and handed over to the ACLC for further verification and investigation.

Director Excise Raisddin Paracha said the campaign was to be carried out for a longer duration, but was suspended because of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, so that people might not have to face any inconvenience.

He said a similar campaign would now be launched after Eid-ul-Fitr. He said that 1386 documents and 41 impounded vehicles were still with the department. He advised motorists to clear their dues.—APP
