Krishna Janamashtami is not celebrated in the month of Sravana or Savana. It is actually celebrated in the month of Bhado or Bhadrapad on the eighth day of the dark half or Krishna Paksha. The month of Bhado or Bhadrapad comes immediaterly after the month of Sravana or Savana as per the Hindu lunar calendar.

Hindus in Pakistan aren't as lucky as Muslims in India. That's the difference between a secular fabric and a fundamentalist one. Jinnah hadn't foreseen this. May the Lord give strength to these wretched Hindus to survive and lead a life of dignity and also teach the fundamentalist (who unfortunately are in big numbers) among muslims to respect other religions

Hindus in Pakistan are living freely and prospering in every field of life just like the Muslims, christians,buddists or persons from any other religion.In sindh province Hindus are one of most rich ppl you find.On the other hand we have seen the destruction of Babri mosque and Gujrat massacre of muslims in india in recent times which is deplorable.

Where there is fear it is irrespective of Country but hate mongers(Mullahs & Pundits alike) spreading intolerance to fulfill their divide & rule political motive, whether its Hindus/Sikhs in Pakistani Punjab, Muslims in Gujrat, Christians in Orissa(india) & most shockingly of all Hindus in Kashmir(any part). We should be shameful of the fact that we still fall for old East India company policy of divide & rule which continue pitting Shias against Sunnis, Dalits against Upper Caste, Tamil/Marathi against Hindi. etc, etc .

I agree with you that it is deplorable that our Muslim sisters and brothers were massacred and a place of worship Babri Masjid was destroyed. Muslims destroyed several Hindu Temples and killed Hindu sisters and brothers too... History has all the facts, but this does not give the right to Hindus to kill anyone, period. Every religion has its share of ignorant souls, so does Hindu religion. No one is above GOD ALMIGHTY. There is only one GOD ALMIGHTY, however, we ignorant souls have given HIM different name and identity based on the religion created by man. We should all pray so that GOD ALMIGHTY will give us all the common sense to not hate and hurt each other in the name of religion. Call HIM by any name, GOD ALMIGHTY will not change. Let us all come together and vow NEVER TO HURT OR HATE ANYONE FOR THE RELIGION ONE FOLLOWS. Peace be with all. LOVE ONE AND ALL.

I always believed that DAWN is more responsible and credible newspaper than Times of India. And these photos are not the only example. I respect this newspaper and people behind it for its unbiased coverage. Thats what journalism is all about. I hope Time of India learns something from DAWN.

These are really very good photos. Indian news papers are yet to mature to show such a harmony towards their Pak brothers. News are always impartial and not unnecessarily provoking.

Dear Anuj, situation in Pakistan is not as bad as depicted for Hindus, Sikhs, Chirstians. 99% of followers of these religions are able to celebrate such events in their communities. The law protects their rights, however, implementation is bad. And recently there has been rise of fanaitcs in our religion, but they are less than 5% of the population trying to hyjack rest of us. Inshallah we will deal with them. And mind you never in our history our people have voted for religious parties in big numbers. Let alone those groups of fanatics who have absolutely no votes in public. To the contrary, we hear and see in the newspapers, that religious right is quite strong in India and is able to form governments in some states and sometimes in the center as well.

I sometimes see Dawn newspaper on internet. Happy to see some pictures about Krishnashtami (janmashtami). I heard there are ancient Hindu temples in Pakistan. Viewers in India would like to know through ur newspaper about them with pictures. I think Pakistan should declare itself a secular state like India and prosper.

I am a regular visitor to this site 'Dawn'. Cultural exchanges between India and Pakistan are a must to create a good bonding between the people of these two countries.
