LAHORE, Aug 21: In what appeared to be a latest crackdown against criminal elements, the operations police claim to have arrested 172 proclaimed offenders, 273 court absconders and 177 history-sheeters and suspected people in the last four days.

According to a handout issued on Sunday, police detained 70 people and recovered from them illegal weapons and bullets/cartridges.

As many as 79 drug-peddlers were taken into custody and 3.5kg heroin, two maund charas and 1,210 bottles of liquor were recovered from them.

During snap checking, police impounded 81 vehicles and motorcycles with suspected number-plates.
