Teachers terminated

KARAK, Aug 20: Nine female primary schoolteachers (PSTs) were terminated from service on account of getting employment on fake educational documents.

Sources in education department said on Saturday the documents of the nine teachers were found fake after verification by the district education department. About 150 teachers both male and female of different cadres had been recruited in 2010.

Executive District Officer (education) Haziqur Rehman Khattak had sent the documents of the newly recruited teachers to their respective educational boards and universities for verification.

The sources said the documents of the nine teachers were found fake and they were terminated from service.

Haziqur Rehman said the verification process would continue and those found having fake documents would be taken to task. —Correspondent

Relief items distributed

LAKKI MARWAT, Aug 20: Tents and other relief items have been distributed among the flood affected people of Wanda Sherdil. District Collector Zafar Ali Khan distributed the relief items, said an official on Saturday.

Several families were rendered homeless after their houses were inundated by flood in the Gangu Nariwah rainy water channel.

Following the directives of DCO Nisar Ahmad, the district collector along with revenue staff visited the affected village to asses the losses and compile a report in this regard.

The villagers also approached the district coordination officer and apprised him about the damages caused by flood and rains. After assessment of losses the DCO ordered distribution of tents and ration among the flood victims.

An official in the district administration told this correspondent a comprehensive report of the flood damages had been sent to Provincial Disaster Management Authority to ensure compensation of losses to the flood affected people as early as possible. —Correspondent

Butchers arrested

PESHAWAR, Aug 20: Fifteen butchers were arrested for overcharging consumers in violation of an agreement with the administration and were sent to prison for 15 days.

The action was taken by the Assistant Coordination Officer Zafar Ali Shah on the directives of the District Coordination Officer Siraj Ahmad Khan.

Butchers were arrested from Hashtnagri, Hospital Road, Kabuli Chowk and Nishterabad markets.

Meanwhile, DCO Siraj Ahmad Khan said the butchers associations had signed agreement with the administration that they would not sell mutton and beef at exorbitant prices. But, he added, the butchers violated the agreement, thus inviting action. He said till the issuance of new pricelist the existing one would remain intact.—APP

Labourers’ rights

PESHAWAR, Aug 20: Provincial Minister for Labour Sher Azam Wazir has said the government soon after coming into power announced restoration of trade unions with a view to remove the lingering sense of deprivation among the labourers community.

Talking to newsmen and labour leaders here on Saturday, the PPP lawmaker sad the government also passed Industrial Relations Ordinance (IRO) 2011 that ensured all basic rights to the labourers besides enhancing minimum wages.

He said revival of trade unions was a step towards empowerment of the labour community and to give them voice to raise their genuine problems.

Moreover, he said, under the Benazir Stock Options Scheme the labourers were made shareholders in their factories and industries.—APP

Hospital construction

PESHAWAR, Aug 20: Deputy Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Khushdil Khan advocate on Saturday took serious notice of slow pace of work and use of substandard material in construction of Matani hospital.He directed the concerned quarters to make sure that the building was completed up till September 15th and quality material was used in its construction.

Khushdil Khan warned the contractor that according to the contract he must provide best quality sanitary and other required items for the hospital and complete the project by September 15th. He said extra time had already been given to the contractor for completion of the project, therefore, if the building was not completed in prescribed period the matter would be referred to the NAB for legal action against the responsible.—APP

PESHAWAR, Aug 20: The DCO Karak, under Section 144 of the CrPC, has prohibited all sorts of functions, gatherings and swimming in the Changhots, Lawagher, Karak, Zaibi and Sharqi dams for one month.—APP
