RAWALPINDI, Aug 5: At least 25 motorbike riders were arrested for doing one-wheeling on Friday.

Police said five of them have also been charged with attacking policemen, damaging their van, a motorbike and clashing with a traffic warden when they were stopped tried doing dangerous stunts on Benazir Bhutto Road on early Friday.

Meanwhile, police nabbed 20 other motorbike riders doing one-wheeling from different parts of the city.

Sajjad Hussain, a traffic warden lodged a complaint with the Waris Khan police, saying that he joined his duty at 6am on Friday when he found more than two-dozen motorbike riders – majority of them were without helmets – started one-wheeling on Benazir Bhutto Road and blocked the traffic.

He said initially he tried to stop them but afterwards he had to call police reinforcement.

He added that the boys started pelting stones at the police van and started a scuffle with him.

Though the traffic warden was rescued, the hide and seek between the motorbike riders doing one-wheeling and police continued for more than an hour.

Five of the arrested boys were identified as Mohammad Yasin, Arslan, Wajid, Usman and Ahmed. Police were conducting raids to arrest others who had escaped from the scene.

After the start of Ramadan, young motorbike riders gather at the city's main artery after Isha prayers and start one-wheeling and showing stunts on their motorbikes.
