ISLAMABAD: US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman on Wednesday said that there could be no reconciliation or compromise possible in Afghanistan without the involvement of Pakistan, DawnNews reported.

During his meeting with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Prime Minister House, Mr Grossman said Pakistan’s role was very pivotal for stabilising the security situation in Afghanistan.

He further said that leaving Pakistan alone after the exit of Soviet forces from Afghanistan was a major mistake on the United States’ part.

On this occasion Prime Minister Gilani said that extremists should be dealt with more aggression and a stable Afghanistan was not only in the benefit of Pakistan but for the entire region.
