Kountry Luv has been shot at different locations in Pakistan to showcase the beauty of its northern areas, villages, mountains, city culture, havelis  and Lahore’s landmark locations

It has become a norm for musicians to act as well. So now, after Atif Aslam (Bol) and Ali Zafar (Tere Bin Laden, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan), Goher Mumtaz of the band Jal has made his TV debut in Kountry Luv.

In an exclusive interview to Images on Sunday, Gohar spoke about the serial that will soon go on air.

Kountry Luv has a film-based script that is converted into 15 episodes. It is about the family values and norms which two boys face when their fathers sends them to Pakistan from the UK because of their non-serious attitude towards life and everything else in general. “Here, things are executed in a light mood. It’s a youth-based drama which also includes songs,” says Goher. “I play Shawn who believes in living life in the moment. He’s been sent to Pakistan to get married and has to live in an uncle’s house where he observes things about Pakistan’s culture and values.”

The cast includes Salman Shahid, Saba Faisal, Goher Mumtaz, Abdullah Farhat, Urwa, Mawra, Tahseen Chisty and Rahseed Naaz. It is directed by Nini, produced by Rashid Khwaja and the story has been penned by the director and Hasan Malik.

How challenging was the role for him? “Actually, quite challenging. Acting for the first time and doing full justice to the role was a tough job. Acting is an entirely different ball game. The director gave me a free hand to improvise and my co-cast, especially Farhat Abdullah (Shawn’s friend Zaik who comes with him from the UK) and I, enjoyed good chemistry,” he recalls.

When asked if he is also plans to appear on the big screen anytime soon, Goher’s reply was, “Maybe. I had been offered film back in 2006 and 2008, but I didn’t like the scripts.”
