SUKKUR, Nov 1: A bus passenger was killed and five men, including an SHO and a police constable, were injured in bandits’ firing near Baberloi on Friday.
The bandits tried to stop the bus (JA-7201), going to upcountry from Karachi, but the driver, sensing danger, speeded the bus.
The bandits opened indiscriminate fire on the bus, resulting into death of passenger Khawaja Tanveer, son of Azizullah, resident of Azad Kashmir, and injuries to driver Safdar and passengers Mohammad Saleem and Junaid.
On information, SHO, Baberloi, Ghulam Mustufa Rajput reached the spot with a police party and surrounded the bus.
The bandits fired at the police also as a result the SHO and constable Hakim Ali were injured.
Later, Ali was admitted to a hospital here and the SHO was shifted to a Karachi hospital due to his serious condition.
The police teams have been sent to chase the bandits.
Meanwhile, five armed persons killed a councillor of Mahota union council, Larkana district, Serwer Zangejo, son of Ghulam Nabi, here on Friday.
The heirs of the deceased lodged an FIR against Shahmir, Panjal, Hussain Bukhsh, Allah Wadhayo and Mehboob (all Zangejo by caste) with the “C” section police.
Zangejo came here to attend a marriage ceremony. He was shot dead when he went to a bazaar.
In another incident, a woman, Zarina, was axed to death in Andal Sundrani village by her husband Mohammad Azmat Shar, who suspected that she had illicit relations with his cousin, Khadim Hussain.
The relatives of Zarina have lodged an FIR with the Andal Sundrani police.
