Exports up by 21pc in July-Oct

KARACHI, Nov 1: An upward trend in the country’s export has been recorded during the first four months (July-Oct) of current fiscal (2002-03).

Goods worth $2.543 billion were exported during July-Oct 2002 as against $2.102 billion in the same period last year.

Consequently, there is an increase of $441 million or 21 per cent in export during first four months of current fiscal as compared to the corresponding period last year.

The Collectorate of Customs (exports), Karachi has disbursed an amount of Rs1.400 billion as duty drawback during October 2002. Total duty drawback payments during first four months stood at Rs4.688 billion.

The collectorate has announced that it has liquidated the pendency of claims of Gold, Silver and 70 per cent categories. The claims relating to bank group were also cleared.

Besides, disbursing the substantial amount of duty drawback to exporters, the collectorate has also taken various measures to facilitate the exporters and all the officers have been made accessible to the exporters to get their problems resolved immediately.
