KARACHI, Nov 1: A five-member mission of Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Senior Project Economist Ms Loh Ai Tee, held meeting with the office-bearers of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Loh Ai Tee said ABD will allocate funds for the development of agriculture sector in Pakistan.
She pointed out that the objective of her delegation was to prepare a comprehensive report on the problems facing agricultural sector, supply of seeds and agri produce in Pakistan.
Lee said that the bank was willing to remove these problems by providing financial assistance to this sector.
KCCI president Shaukat Iqbal invited the attention of the mission towards feudalism in the country and suggested a change in this system on the scientific lines.
He also underlined the need for the effective supply of fertilizers, pesticides, seeds at economical rates to the growers.
Iqbal observed that better fish farming, poultry farming, juices production, packing and storage facilities will help increasing country’s exports.—APP
