KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has directed Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan to take charge as governor of Sindh, DawnNews reported.

Hussain had asked Ibad to work in harmony with the federal and provincial governments under the guidance President Asif Ali Zardari.

Meanwhile, the president welcomed the statement of the MQM chief asking Ibad to resume work as Governor Sindh.

The president termed it a good omen for harmony and reconciliation.

Presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that the president welcomed Ibad, who will immediately return to the country.
