ISLAMABAD: A petition challenging the restoration of the commissionerate system in Sindh was filed in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.

The petition, filed by Maulvi Iqbal Hyder, requested the apex court to suspend the enforcement of the commissionerate system in the province immediately.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has repeatedly rejected the restoration of the commissionerate system in the province.

Moreover, the MQM leadership had earlier announced its decision to challenge the system in courts.
