QUETTA, July 11: Four people, a policeman and two Nato tanker drivers among them, were killed in armed attacks in Quetta and Mastung on Monday.

According to police, gunmen riding motorcycles intercepted a Karachi-bound Nato trailer on Quetta’s western bypass and opened fire, injuring its driver and cleaner.

The assailants then torched the trailer and the driver was burnt alive. The injured cleaner jumped out of the tanker but was killed by the attackers.

“The Nato trailer was going back to Karachi after offloading supplies in Afghanistan,” DIG Operation Hamid Shakeel said.

Another driver of a Nato tanker was killed when assailants opened fire on the vehicle in Khad-Kocha area of Mastung. The driver, identified as Mohammad Khan, was going to Karachi from Chaman. A policeman was killed and another injured in Mastung Bazaar.

Police said that Balochistan Constabulary constables Eid Mohammad and Shahnawaz were on duty when they were targeted by gunmen riding a motorcycle. Police termed it a case of targeted killing and said an investigation was under way.
