MIRPURKHAS, Oct 30: District Nazim Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani has demanded of the Sindh chief secretary to immediately transfer the DCO.

In his letter, addressed to the chief secretary, Jilani said the DCO, Mohsin Qureshi, did not comply with the decisions taken at the district council.

Qureshi had failed to provide information to the district council as required and to maintain coordination between the government and elected representatives, the district Nazim further said.

Jilani alleged the DCO did not follow rules as laid down in the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, 2001, and said he had not attended the council’s session and had misbehaved with council members and officers of the district government.

He said the DCO did not clear liabilities of the defunct district council.

He informed the chief secretary the district council had unanimously passed a resolution, demanding transfer of the DCO.

NAIB NAZIM: The Naib Nazim of Mirpurkhas taluka, Javed Ahmad Papa, has said the taluka Nazim has no right to purchase land under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, 2002, for a new water supply scheme.

Speaking at a news conference here on Wednesday, Papa dispelled the allegations levelled against him by the taluka Nazim, Syed Inayat Ali Shah, and added he was not creating hurdles in completion of this scheme.

He demanded to appoint a committee, comprising MNAs-elect, Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani and Syed Qurban Ali Shah, and MPA-elect, Shabbir Ahmad Qaimi, to hold an inquiry into the issue of purchase of land on higher rate.

GUTTED: Articles worth Rs450,000 were gutted Tuesday night when fire broke out in the bungalow of the deputy district coordination officer, Khalid Mehmood.
