People hold demos against Hesco

DADU, Oct 30: The people of four major towns in the Dadu district on Wednesday staged demonstrations to protest against unscheduled and prolonged load-shedding as well as issuance of inflated detection bills.

The protestors were led by the Nazim, the Naib Nazims and other elected local bodies representatives of their respective towns.

MEHAR: A joint rally was taken out by the workers of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), Pakistan People’s Party (Shaheed Bhutto group) and the Awami Tahreek in Mehar taluka against load- shedding and detection bills.

The demonstrators also staged a sit-in outside the local press club.

Speakers, on the occasion, said that Hesco officials were resorting to 10-hour-long load-shedding in Mehar taluka on a daily basis for the past week.

They criticised the Hesco officials for issuing inflated bills to the consumers.

They accused the local Hesco officials of demanding bribe for correcting the bills.

SEHWAN: Over 200 persons staged a demonstration in Sehwan town to protest against what they termed the local Hesco officials’ corruption.

Speakers, on the occasion, accused the Hesco officials of fixing a monthly charge of Rs10,000 on all ice factories and poultry farms.

They also accused the Hesco officials of demanding Rs500 from each domestic user.

DADU: The people also staged a demonstration outside the local press club against suspension of power supply to Dadu and surrounding areas for the past two days.

The protestors were led by the leaders of the local union councils.

The demonstration was also participated by the workers of the PPP, JSQM and the jeay Sindh Students Federation (JSSF).

Speakers, on the occasion, criticised the Hesco officials for resorting to load-shedding, adding that over 1,000 air- conditioners, 50 flour mills, several factories and hundreds of houses were involved in power theft in Dadu in connivance with the Hesco officials.

JAMSHORO: The resident of Jamshoro blocked Dadu-Jamshoro road on Wednesday to protest against suspension of power supply to Jamshoro.

CRUSHED TO DEATH: A Dadu-bound coach on Wednesday crushed to death a man, Abdul Hadi Panhwar, on the Indus Highway, near the Dodani waterway, some five kilometres from here.
