MUZAFFARABAD, July 6: The AJK Election Commission on Wednesday again postponed polling in LA 37, Valley-II, on the report of the returning officer.
The polling in this constituency, located in Lahore, was suspended on June 26 due to serious law and order problem and the EC had fixed July 10 for re-polling. However, the PML-N candidate from the constituency filed a petition in the AJK High Court that polling should not be conducted until correction of alleged errors in the electoral rolls.
According to the sources in the election commission, the candidates had also expressed fear about violence in the absence of adequate security measures during polling.
Meanwhile, the AJK High Court is likely to announce its judgment on separate applications by the PPP and PML-B candidates in LA 6, Bhimber-II, wherein they sought re-polling in the entire constituency instead of only in 50 polling stations.
On June 28, the EC had announced that re-polling would be held on July 11 in 50 (out of 132) polling stations of LA 6, Bhimber-II where it was stopped due to violence on June 26.
