Decisive goal by Faaiz

LAHORE, Oct 29: A decisive goal by Faaiz Rahim, who struck three times, helped Hussain Own, to defeat Mixed Bag 6-5 1/2 in the Members Cup polo tournament at the Lahore Polo Club ground Tuesday.

With half a goal on handicap, Mixed Bag gained a comfortable lead of 5 1/2 -2 at the end of the second chukker. However, Faaiz assisted by Hussain Iftikhar who scored two goals enabled Hussain Own to stage a come back in the third and fourth chukkers. Rahim scored three goals, two in the third and the match-winner in the fourth to turn the table over Mixed Bag. Iftikhar scored one goal in the first chukker and second in the fourth. Taimur Malik added one goal. For the losers, Sufi Aamir and Ahmad Ali Tiwana scored two goals each while Aasma Hayee who was playing her first match at the LPC scored one goal.

HUSSAIN OWN: Taimur Malik (0), Faaiz Rahim Khan (1), Hussain Iftikhar (1), Ali Riaz (-2).

MIXED BAG: Asma Hayee (0), Sufi Amir (0), Saeed Aslam Khan (0), Ahmad Ali Tiwana.

In second match of the day, seven goals by Agha Murtaza including two hat tricks gave Navy Blues victory by a good margin against hot favourites Karachi Polo Club. Final score was 9 1/2-6 .

The only other goal for the winners who had 1-1/2 goal handicap was scored by Adnan Lone.

Murtaza scored his first hat trick in the first chukker. He registered another hat trick in the third chukker.

For the losing side, Malik Azam Noon (3), Col Talha Saeed (2) and Sami Ibrahim (1) were the scorers.
