President to meet boxing squad

KARACHI, Oct 29: President General Pervez Musharraf will meet medal-winning members of the Pakistan boxing squad in Islamabad next Tuesday (Nov 5).

According to Ali Akbar Shah, joint secretary of Pakistan Amateur Boxing Federation (PABF), the following pugilists who won medals at the recent Asian Games have been invited to assemble in Islamabad Monday (Nov 4).

Meherullah of KPT, winner of Pakistan’s solitary gold medal, along with silver-medallists Noman Karim, Shaukat Ali and Ahmad Ali Khan (all from Army), and KPT’s Asghar Ali Shah will attend the function.

Also invited are Prof Anwar Chowdhry, president of PABF as well as International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA), Ali Akbar Shah and Major Mohammad Zubair, manager of boxing squad at the Asiad.
