ISLAMABAD, Oct 29: District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Farooq Ahmed has formulated a Bench and Bar Liaison Committee (BBLC) to address the problems being faced by the litigants, court staff and lawyers, and to eradicate corruption from court premises.

In its first meeting on Tuesday, the committee decided that no original document would be confiscated in the court which was to be presented as a surety in connection with succession certificates. However, the guarantor has to ensure that the property, the documents of which will be submitted before the court as surety, will not be disposed of till final disposal of the matter.

The committee directed all capital courts, dealing with the matters of criminal nature, to fix particular timings for hearing the bail petitions.

The committee announced that witnesses’ attendance in courts would be recorded and no adjournment be granted. It stressed the need for eliminating chances of corruption by the court staff and clerks of the counsels, which gave bad name to both bench and bar.

The committee comprises district and sessions judge as chairman, a senior most additional district and sessions judge, a senior civil judge, president and secretary of Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) and two senior lawyers.
