HYDERABAD, Oct 29: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro has said that Sindh will soon have a complete dual carriageway from Sindh to Punjab.

He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the additional carriageway of National Highway N-5, Hala-Moro section, near Hala, on Tuesday.

The governor said that government departments should ensure quality of work and complete the projects on time and in a transparent manner.

He said that the government was trying to provide maximum communication facilities by improving network of roads and other ways of communication.

He emphasised the need for protecting the highways against damage and said that main reason for the damage was overloading of vehicles.

Mr Soomro said that Sindh was rich in natural resources and added that huge deposits of coal and oil were being discovered in the province, which would improve the economy of the province.

Earlier, the chairman, National Highway Authority, Maj Gen Farrukh Javed said that it had been decided to complete dual carriage at Qazi Ahmed and Shahpur Jehanian on old roads to avoid litigation and other problems.

General Manager, Sindh, NHA, Abdul Haq, presented a briefing about the project.

He said that the highway, from km-211 to km- 315, was constructed at the cost of Rs2 billion.

The function was attended by Sindh Minister for irrigation and power Syed Aijaz Shah Shirazi, Hyderabad district Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, Hala taluka Nazim Makhdoom Habibullah and others.

SUKKUR: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro, accompanied by the NHA chairman, unveiled the plaque to mark the ground breaking of rehabilitation of the N-5’s Baberloi-Pano Aqil section at the Sangi bypass on Tuesday.
