ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested two suspected terrorists and recovered a suicide jacket, a hand grenade and a pistol from them, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.

Spokesman said that the two have been identified as Munawar alias Meera Jan and Mohib Ullah belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). They wanted to target important personalities or installations in Capital, spokesman added.

On a tip off, a police team started hunting these criminals as there were reports about their presence near Karachi Company bus stand.

A suicide jacket was recovered concealed in a black color bag along with a hand grenade and a pistol.

Bomb Disposal Squad of Islamabad Police was called upon which defused the explosives.

During the preliminary investigation, they confessed attempting an unsuccessful attack on Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences last month.

They said that they had been looking for a soft target since the failed attempt and wanted to hit any important personality or installation.

Senior police officials have appreciated the performance of Margallah Police which arrested these terrorists and saved Capital from a possible terrorists’ attack.
