Unfortunately praying does what it did when the whole nation of Pakistan was praying for the Pakistan team to win against India. However, some practical steps may make the horrible situation acceptable. The natural disasters and natural beneficial happenings are beyond the efforts of human beings. If they could be avoided by prayers it would have been done some thousands of or millions of years ago. Well the human beings have been there only a fraction of that time. Perhaps the territory that is Indo-Pakistan would have been still attached to the southern tip of Africa,and the Himalayas would not have happened. If you must pray, pray for honest people to lead you. Or avoid electing them again and again. Stop deforestation. Build more Dams to store water. Build houses out of the flood planes. Do not build houses with mud and straw. Better build them in places with little chance of flooding. Use the foreign aid to improve the lives of the citizens rather than to build a bigger army. Spend more money on education so that the home grown talented people could find ways to tame the nature. At the end of the day, there are limits.The USA and the Americas suffer more from natural and man made disasters than any other place in the world. They have the technology and they are using it to cut down more forests to raise cows to run McDonald restaurants. Deforestation will change the world you live in, the rains are a part of that.. Human activities are not conducive to battle against the elements. Start using solar energy instead of fossil fuel. It will save millions in the long run and countless suffering of our people. Pakistan need only half of what it spends on the Army to build Solar energy resources, why not make a start? The USA has more floods,Typhoons and Twisters every year that destroy millions of lives in the Americas every year. I never heard of them coming to Pakistan for funds! Why? Just think about it. Why it is Pakistan that goes out begging?
