SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 14: Bandits looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from a family near the upper Chenab canal on the Lahore Road on Wednesday night.

Muhammad Abbas, along with his family, was on his way back to Sheikhupura by his car after attending a marriage ceremony in Lahore when three bandits intercepted him. They snatched Rs9,000 in cash, 35 tolas of gold jewellery and other valuables.

On receiving information, factory area police raided the old city area and arrested Nawaz, owner of the car (LOT-3404) used by the dacoits.

However, the arrested person denied having any involvement in such an incident.

BAR PRESIDENT: District Bar president Muhammad Ramazan Hinjra, in a press briefing here on Wednesday, expressed his resentment over not repairing the dilapidated judiciary buildings.

He said rooms used in the court by the judges were without ventilation. The walls had developed cracks and floors were broken, he added.

He maintained the district administration, especially the building XEN, had never bothered to start repair work despite repeated requests.

He urged the department’s higher-ups to get these rooms repaired without delay.
