PESHAWAR, June 23: Prof Fayyaz Noor has accused his elder brother Sahibzada Riaz Noor, chairman of the provincial Public Service Commission (PSC), of implicating his former servant, Gul Rehman of Kohistan, in a fake case and demanded of the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court to take a suo motu notice of the incident and help release the innocent man.
Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, Prof Fayyaz said that Mr Riaz, former chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and current PSC chairman, had managed to get Mr Rehman arrested for no fault of his and sent him behind the bars.
Mr Rehman’s father, he said, was servant of Mr Riaz, but after leaving his job he had left his son as a replacement with the former chief secretary, who later appointed him in a government department on temporary basis.
“Mr Rehman was expelled from the government department for the only fault that he had stopped work at the residence of the former CS because he had to do his official duty,” Prof Fayyaz alleged, adding that after losing his job Mr Rehman went to Karachi where he got married.
He said that when Mr Rehman returned to Peshawar he made a courtesy call on the former chief secretary, but instead of welcoming him he handed him over to police.
“When I came to know about this, I brought Mr Rehman from the Michini Gate police station, but he was re-arrested and sent to jail under the 3 MPO,” Prof Fayyaz said, adding that the ex-servant was then shifted from Peshawar central prison to Dera Ismail Khan prison so that he and his relatives would face problems.
The police, he said, were also reluctant to arrest Mr Rehman as he had done nothing wrong, but the former CS managed his arrest. “We repeatedly requested him (Mr Noor) to forgive the poor man if he had committed any sin, but he did not do so,” he stated.
Prof Fayyaz said that Mr Riaz was misusing his official powers and punishing an innocent man to satisfy his personal ego. He said that Mr Rehman should be released immediately and the complainant should seek apology from him. — Bureau Report
