FAISALABAD, Oct 27: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has demanded immediate announcement of the Senate election schedule.

Speaking at a news conference at a local hotel on Sunday, MMA Central Vice-President Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi alleged that some intelligence agencies were creating hurdles in the holding of the first session of the National Assembly. “These agencies are attempting to block the way of the MMA to form government,” he claimed.

He alleged that the rulers were adopting delaying tactics to get some of their favourites elected on the reserved seats for women in the National Assembly which would open Pandora’s box.

He claimed that the MMA would introduce new education, health, labour and finance policies after forming government at federal level for which suggestions were being given final touches.

The Allama made it clear that the MMA leaders and workers were not against the representation of women at any level.

The MMA had finalized the list of candidates for the reserved seats for women in the national and provincial assemblies.

He said that discussions with all political parties were going on for the formation of the government. “The need of the hour is to end minor differences among the political parties in the larger interest of the country.”

The Allama said that the MMA would not accept the LFO and the amendments in the constitution till their approval from the National Assembly.

To a question, he claimed that the MMA would form its government under its own terms and conditions and would not change any plan or programme announced by it earlier to obtain some seats in the federal government.

MMA’s district president Sardar Zafar Hussain, Maulana Yousaf Anwar, Mazhar Abbas Alvi, Dr Jawed Akhtar and other leaders of the component parties of the Majlis were also present on the occasion.
