KARACHI, June 15: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where six ships carrying containers, wheat, iron ore and diesel oil were allotted berths at QICT, IOCB and Fotco terminals, respectively, during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, four more ships scheduled to load, unload containers, furnace oil and chemicals arrived at outer anchorage during the report period.

Berth occupancy was maintained at 90 per cent at the port, where a total of 12 ships currently occupied berths to load, unload containers, cement, rice, wheat, chemicals, diesel oil, iron ore and edible oil, respectively, during the last 24 hours.

The port handled cargo volume of 72,088 tons, comprising 53,921 tons imports and 18,167 tons exports, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,670 containers (Teus).

Two ships sailed out to the sea on Wednesday, while two more vessels were expected to sail later. —APP
