Shakeel puts PTCL in final

FAISALABAD, Oct 25: Pakistan Army and PTCL have qualified for the final of the All Paksitan Zafar Mehmood Gold Cup floodlit hockey tournament scheduled to be played Friday.

Earlier, two semifinals were played Thursday. In first semifinal PTCL beat Pakistan Navy through Shakeel Abbasi’s golden goal who in process scored a fine hat trick after the teams finished 2-2- in the regulation time.

Pakistan Navy took the lead when Jameel Khan scored a field goal in the 19th minute of the first half. Shakeel Abbasi of PTCL equalized it in 27th minute but Muhammad Azhar of Navy again scored another goal to restore his team’s lead. Shakeel Abbasi succeeded in converting a goal in 48th minute.

During extra time Shakeel Abbasi scored a golden goal to lead his team into the final.

In second semi final Army beat National Bank of Pakistan 1-0. M. Irfan scored the winner in the 47 minute of the play on a penalty corner.—APP
