RAWALPINDI, Oct 25: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s (MMA) nominee for the slot of speaker of the National Assembly, Liaquat Baloch, has said no party can form government at the center without the support of MMA, and even if anyone succeeds in doing so, the result would be an instable government.

Speaking at a reception here on Friday, he said, the religious parties had supported other parties in making their government in the past and this time it was their right to be in the driving seat.

About the position of other political parties in parliament, he said, no party could form government independently.

Mr Baloch said the alliance would block the way of those aspiring to bring in a secular setup.

He said the foreign and interior policies would be debated in parliament and got amended according to the aspirations of the masses.

“The convening of the parliament’s inaugural session is being delayed by the military regime, which is spreading hopelessness among the masses.”

The country, he maintained, is passing through a critical phase and at this juncture, the religious forces of the country should stand united.
