ISLAMABAD, Nov 14: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has adopted double standards in assessing the performance of its officials, the CDA sources told Dawn.

The CDA had suspended the director-general (services), Jehanzeb Khan, for allegedly over-purchasing steel for development work, while another accused in the same case, who at present is working as roads-II director, Akbar Nawaz, has been given the additional charge of DG services.

Mr Khan was removed on the recommendation of army formation monitoring team, a body that heads all army monitoring teams in the country. However, the director, roads-II, was declared innocent.

An internal inquiry by CDA has declared that the suspended director-general was not guilty and charges framed against him had been proved invalid and untrue.

There are many directors in the Authority who are senior than Akbar Nawaz. Some of them had been awaiting promotion for the last 15 years, the sources said.

Meanwhile, in a fresh reshuffle in the CDA, some 10 deputy directors have been transferred.

According to an office order issued on Wednesday, deputy director (implementation), Inamullah, has been transferred as deputy director to the directorate, road-II; deputy director, water supply, Ali Mubarik Masud has been posted as deputy director, Aiwan-i-Sadr directorate in place of Mohammad Munir Bhatti who has been transferred to Faisal Masjid.

The deputy director, directorate of roads-I, Najeebur Rehman, has been made deputy director, water supply; while deputy director sstructure, Salam Gul Wazir, has been made deputy director, roads-I in place of Tanveer Hussain Shah, who has been transferred as deputy director, planning and engineering, and deputy director, Khanpur Dam, Amir Bakhsh Bajkani, has been made deputy director, water and supply directorate, Simly Dam.
