THATTA, Oct 25: Sassui Palijo, elected from the PPP platform in Thatta on PS-85, has said that the rural women of Sindh are not born to become the victims of a male-dominated society and of Karo-kari.

She said this while addressing a public gathering at Jherruck on Friday.

She said that the women must overcome all obstacles of outdated customs, and should come out into the open for getting their rights restored.

The MPA-elect said urban as well as rural women in Thatta in spite of pressure and victimization participated and used their franchise in the recent polls.

She claimed that those elected through rigging had been exposed.

Sassui said that she would put forth the case of Sindh, including the issue of its legitimate water share, the ruination of the Indus delta, shooting up of the graph of unemployment, and restoration of the sick industrial units in Thatta through the forum of the provincial assembly.

PROTEST HELD: A demonstration was held on Friday by the journalists of Thatta to protest against the killing of Shahid Soomro, a journalist from Kandhkot.

The protest rally was led by the president of the press club, Nawaz Memon.

The journalists wearing black arm-bands raised slogans and marched through the main roads on Friday. They also staged a sit-in on the National Highway.
