ISLAMABAD, Nov 14: Residents of Rawal Town criticised Capital Development Authority (CDA) for not providing basic civic amenities to them.

They lodged complaints with CDA Chairman Mir Laiq Shah during his visit to the town on Wednesday, demanding allocation of a piece of land for setting up a school.

They suggested that the land where garbage was being dumped could be utilized for this purpose.

They urged the CDA chief for repair of dilapidated roads and provision of land to the milkmen for cattle-pen. They said they were ready to pay the price of the land.

The residents complained of the garbage lying in the area and said the CDA sanitation department were not bothered about the cleanliness in the area.

The CDA chairman assured the residents that their problems would be resolved on emergency basis.

An open Kutchery was held by the deputy commissioner Islamabad, Tariq Mahmood Khan at union council Shah Allah Ditta.

The residents of the area lodged complaints regarding shortage of medicines at a local dispensary, non availability of sufficient drinking water and veterinary services.

They demanded Sui gas and electricity in the area, effective police patrolling, provision of furniture at public schools, repair and construction of streets and roads.

The deputy commissioner heard the problems and issued on the spot orders for prompt action to the departments concerned.

The district health officer, Dr Zafarul Haq Lodhi informed that sufficient medicines had been purchased which will be supplied to the local dispensary on Thursday.
