HYDERABAD, Oct 24: A large number of women belonging to a minority community of Tando Mohammad Khan Taluka held a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Thursday against the non-payment of their share from the Baitulmaal fund.

They were led by minority councillors Amtho Thakur, Ajmal Thakur, Shagun Thakur, and Moolji Ram.

Talking to newsmen, the minority councillors said that the minorities of Taluka Tando Mohammad Khan were being totally ignored by the authorities concerned and they were not being paid any money from the Baitulmaal fund.

They said that they had approached the Nazim of Tando Mohammad Khan Taluka as well as the district Nazim but in vain. They said the only reply they got was that no funds were available.

They appealed to the authorities concerned to release funds for the minorities from the Baitulmaal.

HUJ: The Hyderabad Union of Journalists (HUJ) on Thursday staged a protest demonstration and token hunger strike outside the press club to protest against the murder of Kandhkot, Jacobabad journalist, Shahid Soomro.

The protesters carried banners and placards in their hands inscribed with various slogans.

They also held Fateha Khawani for the departed soul.

Meanwhile, the HUJ has sent a telegram to the chief justice of the Supreme Court with the request that the apex court should take suo motu action in the matter and direct the provincial authorities to chargesheet the case in the anti-terrorism court.

Similar telegrams have also been sent to the Sindh governor, the chief justice, Sindh High Court, the chief secretary, and the home secretary.

HESCO: The Anjuman-e-Hussaini Latifi staged token hunger strike outside the press club on Thursday to protest against the disconnection of the power supply to the Havelis of Bhit Shah Shrine by the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) and the registration of false cases against them.
