KARACHI, June 1: Second seed Sikandar Hayat Khan walked away with men’s singles quarter-final with ease to complete the men’s singles semi-finals line-up in the IC Talent Series ranking tennis championship at Union Club on Wednesday.

Sikandar had a 6-0, 6-0 short work of qualifier Rabiuddin to join Talha Zubair Surmawala, Yayha Gabol and Fahad Khan in the quartet.

Meanwhile, teenager Hania Naved had a sweet and sour day. She made exit in the boys’ and girls’ under-13 singles quarters losing to top seed Hasan Farooq 4-6, 1-6 but was quick to clinch her ladies singles match against Sharmeen Velani 6-0, 6-0.

Results: Men’s singles quarter-final: Sikandar Hayat Khan bt Rabiuddin 6-0, 6-0.

Juniors’ under-17 singles: Quarter-finals: Azhar Abdul Qadir bt Yayha Gabol 1-1 (retired); Saud Shoaib bt Aun Ahmed 4-6, 6-1, 10-7; Malik Hamza Yawar bt Murad Khan 6-0, 6-0.

Boys and girls’ under-13 singles: Quarter-finals: Nazif Ahmed bt Khizer Imran 6-1, 6-0; Dawar Rehan bt Omair Tariq 6-2, 6-3; Marib Malik bt Adnan Khan 6-1, 6-0; Hasan Farooq bt Hania Naved 6-4, 6-1.

Ladies singles: Quarter-finals: Hania Naved bt Sharmeen Velani 6-0, 6-0; Waniya Khan bt Zopash (walkover).

Boys and girls’ under-15 singles: Quarter-final: Malik Hamza Yawar bt Saud Shoaib 6-3, 6-4. Thursday’s fixtures: Matches start at 9am.
