KARACHI, Oct 24: Khadija Soomro, wife of the Sindh Governor, Mohammadmian Soomro, has said that the special attention by prominent figures from different spheres of the life can help bring about drastic changes in the infrastructure and working position of the public sector schools.

She made the observation while reviewing progress of the Government Junior Model School, PECHS, which she visited on Thursday.

She said that coordination among various government departments, involvement of the private sector and consistent monitoring and supervision were essentially important in order to improve the standard of education as well as to ensure provision of all basic necessities to the students.

Among those present on the occasion were Advisor to the Sindh government on Education, Anita Ghulam Ali, DCO Shafiqur Rehman Piracha, EDO (Education), Principal of the JMS, Fahmida Khatoon and its teachers besides other civil officials.

Khadija Soomro adopted this school on Oct 30, 2001 after which it has registered multi-dimensional growth and improvement in educational as well as extra-curricular activities.

The teachers told the meeting that 21 rooms were either constructed or repaired under the Tamir-e-Pakistan Programme. They said that computer training was being imparted to them so as to enable them train the students in this field. They thanked Khadija Soomro for her keen interest in the affairs of the school.—APP
