LAHORE: Interior Minister Rehman Malik says a commission to investigate the US operation in Abbottabad will be formed in two days.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday at the residence of Lt Yasir Abbas who had died while fighting the terrorists who had attacked the naval base in Karachi, he said the credit for setting up the commission would go to parliament and not to any political party.

He said all parties had been consulted on the formation of the commission which would ascertain if there was any lapse in security. The minister said PML-N leaders should base their policies on national interests.

He said the president and the prime minister had told US leaders that unilateral operations would not be tolerated and if a high-value target was traced in Pakistan the ISI and CIA would work together. He said the government had announced Sitara-i-Basalat for Lt Yasir but the prime minister had recommended Nishan-i-Haider for him.—Staff Reporter
