Four shot dead

PESHAWAR, May 23: Four people, including a woman, were killed and several injured in two incidents here on Monday, police said.

Two groups clashed in Mathra locality over a piece of land, injuring several people, an official at the area police station said.

Of the injured, Kamran Khan, Bakht Shah Yan and a woman Yasmeena died while being shifted to hospital. The groups were led by Fayaz Khan and his maternal uncle Nisar Khan.

In the second incident at Rasheed Ghari, Said Nazeer was shot dead by a group of armed men. — Bureau Report

Man killed on road

LAKKI MARWAT, May 23: A schoolteacher was killed and his colleague sustained injuries when a passenger bus hit their motorbike near Asmatabad village on Bannu-D.I. Khan road on Monday.

As soon as the schoolteachers, Shah Mohammad and Shamsul Islam, riding a motorcycle emerged on the road, a speeding bus coming from Tajazai side hit their bike, killing Shah Mohammad on the spot, an official source said.

He said the wounded teacher was taken to city hospital. Police registered a case against the bus driver. —Correspondent

Body of girl recovered

NOWSHERA, May 23: Body of a girl was recovered in the jurisdiction of Kheshgi police station here on Monday.

Police said the body of Rozina (20), daughter of Mohammad Khan, was recovered from the fields at Masheen Koroona.

According to the autopsy report the girl was strangled as signs of torture were visible on her throat.

Nowshera Kalan police registered case against unknown persons and started investigation. — Correspondent

Traders’ front

PESHAWAR, May 23: Three major traders’ associations of Peshawar have formed a new alliance to protect the interests of the community.

Peshawar Traders’ Alliance came into being at a meeting of three main organisations -- Markazi Tanzeem-i-Tajiran, Anjuman-i-Tajiran and Peshawar Business Council -- the other day.

Haji Mohammad Israb was chosen as chairman, Haji Mohammad Afzal president, Javed Akhtar senior vice president, Waris Khan Afridi general secretary, Sadiq Amin secretary information and Nadeem Rauf as finance secretary of the new alliance.

A 15-member executive committee will be announced through mutual consensus later on.—Bureau Report
