KARACHI, Oct 22: Supply of oil products from PSO terminals remained suspended on Tuesday, the All-Pakistan Oil-Tankers Owners Association claimed.

However, a PSO official disputed the claim and said supplies from terminals to all destinations remained satisfactory.

At some places, attempts were made to interrupt the supply, but these were controlled, he added.

The APOTOA spokesman said: “We are continuing to observe a strike against the PSO and we suspended our operation to supply PSO products to their destinations. We will continue our strike till the acceptance of our demands. We have only boycotted the PSO supply and the supply of oil products of other companies is normal.”

He said the chief of the APOTOA, Yusuf Shahwani, was released late on Monday night by the police after which calm prevailed in Keamari and Shireen Jinnah Colony.

He said no talks between the leaders of APOTOA and officials of PSO were held on the issue in the city.

However, the PSO General Manager (Logistics), M. Z. Tamimy, said the overall situation pertaining to supply of petroleum products remained satisfactory in the country.

“Some problems arose in the supply to private power projects in Karachi and it will be normalized very soon with the help of National Logistic Cell.”

He said attempts to interrupt the supply were made at Machheky terminal of PSO near Lahore, besides Faisalabad, and Peshawar, where the PSO officials were holding dialogues with the cartage contractors to resume the normal supply.
