MULTAN, Oct 21: Kutubpur police on Monday claim to have arrested Madad committee patron Tahir Sharif from Shah Rukne Alam shrine, Qila Qasim Bagh.

Tahira Sharif, the sister of the Madad committee patron, had filed a habeas corpus petition in the court of district and sessions judge Ashraf Bhatti a few days ago.

The judge summoned SP Malik Mureed Hussain on several occasions and asked him to produce Tahir, but he always told the judge that he (Tahir) was not in police custody. Upon this, the judge deputed senior civil judge Khursheed Anwar to probe whether the SP was speaking the truth or telling a lie.

The judge had asked him to submit his findings before court on Oct 23.
